GAASTRA |
|
Flown in varied inland weather conditions. |
TED POLKEY |
I’ve been kite landboarding for around 8 months now. I started on small foils and progressed to de-powers. I flew my first bow kite on a wet and gusty day. It was a 9m Naish X1, I was amazed by how much more speed and de-power there was to my previous kite (9.5m sabre2). I could fly it in much higher gustier winds. I then tried many more bow kites, as I liked them so much. When the Gaastra Jekyll arrived at Airbossworld, everyone who tried it loved it. I had to try it! The first time I flew it was in almost no wind, about 5 to 8mph. I decided to give it a fly all the same. The first thing I noticed about the kite was how much power it produced. I was expecting nothing from the wind. I decided to get my board and started going up and down the field. The kite is the most stable kite I have flown. I can leave it and know its not going to do anything so letting me concentrate on what I want to do. I was amazed that I was able to jump and do some tricks with the wind. The kite has much more lift and hang time then the other bow kites I have tried. Later the wind died completely and I called it a day, I was left wanting to try the kite in some decent wind desperately. from 15mph plus I cannot fault this kite. The bar feel is amazing its not heavy but you know what the kites doing and where it is. The depower is huge. I never have to use the trim. The kite will sit above your head will almost no pull when the bars out. The kite turns predictably and smooth. On the normal setting its quite fast, not to fast that you need bullet reactions but fast enough to get it moving. The lift in this kite is awesome. I’ve had some of my biggest jumps on this kite and always felt safe and in control. Launching the kite couldn’t be easier
