I had been looking for a new kite for a while, as my Ozone Frenzy 7.3 was not cutting it when it came to jumps. Lucky for me Airboss had just got in a 15m Phantom from Peter Lynn to Demo. I had to fly it, after reading so many articles about both the Guerrilla and the Phantom. |

| My first experience was at Bridlington, the wind was off shore and fairly gusty and found the kite a little twitchy in power, "all or none". It still needed a bit of tweaking to set it up right. | |||
| My second run-in with this kite was when I went to Airboss to pick up a helmet for myself. I ended up coming away with a new helmet and a free bonus flight. Unfortunately the weather was against me, so I went to see my girl friend instead. That evening we ended up going to the Severn Pitches (our local flying spot). Charlotte and I pulled up to see that every body was flying nothing bigger than 3.5 Bullets. Undeterred we set up, I un-packed the Phantom and started to set it up. I was not to sure about the wind speed, but it was gusty. With a little help I launched the Phantom and with a few tugs at the central line the kite was up and fully inflated. I only had the chance to fly for a few hours, but I had a big smile by the end of the day. | ![]() |

| The true test came the following day at Ruddington. At first I didn't think I was going to be able to fly, as it rained most afternoon. Thankfully later on the sun came out, so after a quick chat with Gary and Elly, we headed back to Ruddington all ready to fly, the wind was gusting from 13 to 24 mph. As I set up, my girl friend was already flying her Blade III 6.6m (kind of frustrating). Never the less, I was finally ready to launch, it suddenly became really gusty, but I was determine to fly the kite. It took me a few goes to get it launched and I needed some assistance but once it was up in the sky it flew well. I didn't feel a thing on the harness and was in complete control even when a big gust came though. When I was on the board I could go as fast as I liked from walking pace to crazily quick. A few other land boarders turned up later making a few jokes about the size of the kite. They all took out there Blades and few other makes but every time a gust came though most of them just got pulled off their boards, whilst the kite and me were totally unaffected by the wind. I would say I was flying the kite in the worst possible conditions and the kite still held its shape. I felt in control with it all the time. | |||
| The Phantom's performance is in my view what a land boarder wants, there's power at a flick of a button, just pull in the bar and your flying along or up in the air. The stability is crazy; this kite doesn't luff, over shoot or collapse. The phantom holds it shape and just floats back. It's great for jumping and it turns really quick. I personally think it must be the best kite land boarding kite out. Where other kites fail this kite kicks ass. | |||
