Our ever adventurous test pilot's been out and about last weekend and here's his eagerly awaited report on the Flexifoil 3.5 metre Bullet! |

It
was Airboss's first 'Wild and Windy' weekend of the year, and my first
weekend away, I can't wait to play with all my new toys, and I'm especially
excited to have my first fly of Airboss's newest toy, the 3.5 Bullet,
from Flexifoil. |

I arrive early Saturday morning in Skegness, and find the crew already in the car park getting all the kit ready to drag down to the beach. As we get there we find the tide receeding, uncovering lots of lovely firm sand, the sun is shining and the wind is a beautifully clean 10 mph. I can't wait, so I rig my 4.9 Blade and go for a blast down the beach on my land board. I get back and find Gary with the Bullet already out, getting ready to rig it up. So what is it like? Well, it's packed in a small rucksack, that is vented to help air the kite if it's packed away wet. The build quality of the kite is certainly good, looking like it should survive its fair share of crash landings. A nice touch Flexi have added to the lines are little tabs on the larkshead loops to help undo them. The handles are also of good quality, with neoprene sleeves over the top of the handles that also goes up the main leader lines. This really improves comfort when flying. The Bullet also comes with a safety system that attaches to both brake leaders and your wrists, via elasticated cord. Should you drop the handles, or if it all gets too much and you need to ditch the kite, the brakes are pulled, and the kite drops safely to the ground. Its your choice if you decide to use them, but I think it's a great idea for beginners or if your learning new tricks, giving you greater confidence without the fear of loosing the kite. All in all, a nice package. |

The kite launches very easily, flying straight to the zenith with a steady pull, and then just sits there absolutely stable. In the odd gust, it would overfly slightly, and then sit back above your head, without ever threatening to collapse. I was so impressed, I tried my hardest to get the kite to luff but it just refused to come down. With the lines slack and the kite right over your head, it would stay inflated and then just take the slack back out off the lines ready for more. It was just as stable at the edge of the window. The next thing you notice is how fast it turns, with a good progressive pull as you fly it across the window, not as grunty as a Blade but solid and predictable nonetheless. Time to try some traction. |

All
in all, Flexi have made a good kite, that is well manufactured, very
stable and forgiving. Everyone that flew it over the weekend had the
same positive feedback. If the wind was stronger we could have given
it a full on workout. |
